Telmisartan: A Promising Drug for Athletes

Contador claimed that he had been taking the drug for its blood pressure-lowering effects and was unaware of its potential performance-enhancing benefits (BBC Sport, 2015).

In another case, American sprinter Tyson Gay tested positive for Telmisartan in 2013. However, he was not sanctioned as the drug was not on the prohibited list at the time.
